USCIS Fee Hikes Take Effect April 1, 2024
USCIS has announced that the new fee schedule will take effect April 1, 2024. The largest increases will affect employment-based applications, but there are notable fee increases for a number of commonly-filed forms:
Fees for Applications for Naturalization (N-400) will increase from $640 to $760.
Petitions for Non-citizen Relatives (I-130) will increase from $565 to $710 for online filing or $820 for paper filing.
Petitions for Fiancé Visas (I-129F) are moving from $535 to $720.
Work permit applications and renewals will increase from $495 to $650 for most applicants.
Waivers will also be more expensive to file with an I-601A Application for Provisional Unlawful Presence Waiver jumping from $630 to $1,105, an I-212 Application for Permission to Reapply going from $930 to $1,395, and an I-601 Application for Waiver of Inadmissibility increasing from $930 to $1,050.
An I-751 Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence (necessary for those whose Adjustments of Status were based on marriage and were approved less than two years after the marriage) will more than double from $595 to $1,195.
The biggest change outside the employment context appears to be for those applying to adjust status. A Petition to Adjust Status (I-485) filed today with an accompanying Application for Employment Authorization (I-765) and Application for Advance Parole (I-131) would require payment of a $1,225 fee.
After the increases take effect, the same package submitted on paper would cost $2,820. Part of that is attributable to the increase of the I-485 from $1,225 to $1540. But a bigger part of that increase is because the I-765 and I-131 are no longer included in the I-485 fee. The I-765 will now cost an additional $555 (online) or $650 (on paper) and the I-131 will cost an additional $630. Adding these fees to the increased I-130 fee means that a typical package petitioning for an immediate relative and seeking adjustment of status could jump from $1,790 to as high as $3,640 in USCIS fees alone.
